Came across flippa.com recently, whose core value proposition is to "Buy and sell websites, domains and apps". The business model makes sense to me, and I am able to understand why some would be interested in buying undervalued sites, revamping them, and reselling at a higher price (analogous to a private equity firm).
The problem is, many of the sites on flippa.com are fraudulent, and it is difficult to find a legitimate deal. Is there room in the industry for a platform to replace flippa, by instead focusing on implementing proper procedures so that prospective customers can easily search for websites and verify its legitimacy? Kind of how Airbnb made a conventionally "unsafe" marketplace safe through their use of excellent user design.
Really want to hear HN's thoughts on this matter. Thanks for reading.
