I had this idea about how it's more valuable to come up with your own problems to solve and things to do than relying on others (including online communities) for inspiration.
When you're getting inspiration from others you're most likely getting low hanging fruit that someone else would eventually come up with as well. Easily discoverable problems that there isn't much value in solving.
With so many of us around, the value isn't in solving problems anymore - it is in finding the right problems to solve.
Just a little ramble anyway! I don't see myself as an intellectual or anything, I just think this was an interesting thought and reminds me of some ideas Paul Graham has shared in his essays.
