Throwaway account. I did some freelancing work for a client who has refused to pay now. I worked for this client for 3 weeks (in March). He asked me to stop working on the project in the first week of April because his business was impacted by COVID-19. I raised the invoice after the project handover and sent him 2-3 reminders since then. He tried to bargain for 60% of the payment, but I declined. I sent him another reminder today, but now he has refused to pay any amount. What can I do?
What I intend to do: I intend to create a review website for this client like https://example-reviews.com (citing facts how this client refused to pay me) so that people who are searching for reviews of this client would see this review website. It's ethically in a gray area, I guess, but I don't have an option. Can there be any legal repercussions for me creating this review website? Can my client sue me?
Here are a few details for more context: It was a digital marketing (Google ads + SEO) work. I am based out of Toronto, Canada. The invoice is C$1575.
