xen: you can install any kernel openvz: only the host kernel gets shared amoung guests and less isolation. also in the past there was no swap support, seems to work now.

use case for crappy crypto: performance. even google uses RC4 for gmail.

RC4 isn't perfect, but it's immune to some attacks (e.g. BEAST) that block ciphers like AES tend to have problems with.

RC4 actually has a huge internal state. You could use a 1600 bit key with it if you wanted to.

there's many things that get expressed "between the lines". arguing for the fun of it has benefits. for one, ideas get exchanged, validated and who knows: maybe something useful comes out of it.

You need an easy way to get as close to vanilla as possible, to make support and faultfinding not awful. But you need to provide some kind of hidden method for tweaking to keep power users happy.

I don't know how it was ordered originally. I imagine just whatever order the scraper returned data.

putting it throughs sort ordered by tpb's id, which I imagine are assigned in chronological order. The low-numbered torrents seem to be from 2004.

i once built a clojure web app and used a startssl free certificate. it worked fine after i imported it into the java keystore. i was using OpenJDK under linux. were you using Oracle's java?

Yes, it was Oracle's. The problem was on the Salesforce side (as a client). They couldn't verify the chain up to the CA because it is not included in the CA bundle. Adding something on the server side doesn't help here.

when you sign up they install a certificate in your browser. without that, there's no way to login to your startssl account! so make sure to make a backup of it. i lost my account because i didn't realize this...

you'd want to revoke it if someone steals your private key.

Given the way Startcom operates, that could become expensive quickly. Since your private key is your gateway into your account (Why they went with this method instead of requiring a sensible password is beyond me, it's one of the reasons their site is a huge pain...), theoretically every certificate you own is compromised, and therefore you'd be out $25 for each one.
