While ChatHPT is just a vibe coding experiment and a playful jab at Generative Pre-trained Transformers, I built it secretly hoping it might prompt others to reflect on how we acquire knowledge in the current dystopian rise of AI-driven chats. It’s essentially a simple P2P chat built on websockets, a nostalgic postcard to many hours I spent on IRC making friends all over the world many years ago.

Despite its confusing UX, my comedy genius didn’t foresee everyone assuming it’s just another ChatGPT wrapper, which, ironically, highlights the tragedy I’m touching here.

I wouldn't be surprised if Meteor gains some traction after this. 1.3 is a great, long-awaited release with all the stuff that should be there from the beginning, really.

To be fair, they are actually very transparent about their use of Google Analytics [1][2], and anonymise some of the data [3]. That is not too bad keeping in mind they share a huge chunk of that data with the public [4][5].

Being transparent doesn't make it right. It (and the fact they use and advocate the use of Gmail in government) worries me. They're the people's government and that implies they're there on behalf of the people, to serve the people. That sentiment doesn't exist at GDS. They believe they're right about everything they do, are recalcitrant and take criticism very badly.

They are good at web pages though.
